Christina Nilsson is the winner of the First Prize of the Renata Tebaldi International Voice Competition

The First Prize of Renata Tebaldi International Voice Competition, Opera section was assigned on Saturday night to Christina Nilsson, 27 years old Swedish soprano before an enthusiastic audience. She enchanted the audience and persuaded the jury performing a piece by Wagner accompanied by the notes of the San Marino Symphony Orchestra conducted on the occasion by Maestro Nicola Paszkowski.
In addition to a 10.000 euro scholarship, she has been awarded the contract that the President of the Jury, Dominique Meyer offered: she will fly to Vienna, to the theatre temple of European Opera, honoured by the Prize which is also the Prize granted by Their Excellencies the Captains Regent of the Republic of San Marino.
The Second Prize went to the Italian tenor Marco Ciaponi, 28 years old from Livorno, who was assigned a well-known aria by Donizetti’s Elisir d’amore Una furtive lagrima. Surprise for Bolivian bass Jose Coca Loza and for Italian soprano Giuliana Gianfaldoni who were awarded the Third Prize ex-aequo. To Giuliana Gianfaldoni also the Audience Prize, further scholarship offered by, the San Marino Clubs Lions and Rotary.
The Soroptimist prize went to Belgium. The youngest finalist was indeed the 23 years old soprano Emma Posman.
The San Marino Symphony Orchestra has chosen the Italian soprano Bianca Tognocchi as winner of Edoardo Müller Prize.
Cristina Mazzavillani Muti has been the guest of honour of the event and since then she is a Renata Tebaldi Foundation honorary member: her dedication to young opera talents, her passion and her search for new voices are close to the mission statement of Renata Tebaldi Foundation, desired and created by Renata Tebaldi herself with the aim to offer help and concrete opportunities in Belcanto world.
